Ciao,

I’m Valentina and I was born in Cassino, Italy. I am an experienced Teacher of Italian as a Second Language and a professional Translator and Interpreter (English-German-French-Spanish into Italian) with over 20 years of relevant working experience.

I graduated  cum laude from the University of Cassino with a Master’s degree in Linguistics and Foreign Language & Literature (English- German- French).

I got a Specialization and Training in Translating and Interpreting Techniques (English-German; English-Italian; German-English; German-Italian) at the University of Germersheim, in Mainz (Germany), which is considered the European center of Excellence in Foreign Languages training.

I started working as a Translator at the highest level at the European Parliament in Luxembourg gaining the best experience as a professional and multi-cultural writer/translator. My main languages were German, French and English.

I moved to New York in 2007 to follow my heart and differentiate my cultural experiences…and I fell in love with this city!

I attended the American Language Communication Center and got a credited Certificate in ‘Writing in English’ to be proficient in every registry of the English Language.

I then focused on ‘Business English’ with a second certificate and I obtained a  Professional Degree in “Global Affairs” at the New York University.

In 2011, I got an Advanced-level certificate in Spanish language and since then, I have been helping Spanish native colleagues and friends in many translation projects.

Of course, in the meantime I kept working as a Teacher of Italian (Grammar and Literature) and as a freelance Translator for different Agencies, institutes and Institutions.

Finally, in 2013, I  won a full book translation project from English into Italian after being selected among 10 Italian native professional translators. The book “Vorrei che tu fossi qui”  was published by  Dolce Media Group in Toronto and it is still available on Amazon.

November 2018:  Publication of  “Lettere a Zoe” (0riginal title ‘Letters to Zoe’), the Italian version of the second best-seller novel written by Garrett B. Robinson. Both the book’s translation and the Appendix carry my signature.
It is an intense, lyrical and inspiring adventure written by the prolific and talented author Garrett Buhl Robinson, a well-known itinerant poet living in New York. It was a sold-out Off-Broadway show in 2015 and it is now available in German and Italian on Amazon. You can find my English review of this book on my “Literary Critique”  section.

2020: a terrible pandemic year that is delaying another editorial gem. Let’s better wait few more months, it will be worthy.

Stay tuned.

Thank you for reading and sharing.

Valentina
